Neerja was born on 7 September 1963 in Chandigarh, Punjab, Neerja was a resident of Mumbai, her father Late Harish Bhanot worked as a journalist in Hindustan Times. In 1985, Neerja was married to Naresh Mishra (1985-1985). Bhanot, a woman on whose death Pakistan had shed tears along with India.
While going from India to New York, this plane was hijacked from Pakistan and there were 380 passengers on board, to save the lives of those passengers, Neerja gave her life and became a martyr for the country and this was about 28 years ago on September 5, It is 1986, later for this bravery by the government, posthumously Neerja was awarded India’s highest mighty award “Ashok Chakra“.
